Take your nose on a trip to the Bulgarian Rose Valley and enjoy a perfume-making experience during the rose-harvest period from the 19th to the 23rd of May 2025.

The Rose Retreat is an annual event focused on diverse olfactive experiences inspired by the two Bulgarian oil-giving roses, Rosa Damascena and Rosa Alba.

What to expect:

• perfume-making workshops focused on rose-centred perfume compositions with guest perfumer Karen Gilbert.

• rose picking of Rosa Damascena and Rosa Alba

• visit the local rose museum

• visit a local rose oil distillery

• 4 nights at a local 5-star hotel

• organised group transfer on Monday, the 19th of May, from Sofia to the Rose Valley

• organised group transfer on Friday, the 23rd of May, from the Rose Valley to Sofia

There will be two different price categories for Rose Retreat 2025, released as follows:

• “Rose Retreat 2025 Early Bird, starting at 2200 Euros/Person - from 1st of February’25 to 28th of February'25

• “Rose Retreat 2025 Standard”, starting at 2500 Euros/Person - from 1st of March to 30th of April'25

THE EXPERIENCE

Race with the sun and participate in the centuries-old tradition of rose-picking at dawn. As the sun rises, roses gradually yield their essential oils in the air around so much that by midday, they are only half as potent as they were at sunrise.

The rose harvest gives you a chance to learn more about roses, get to know the different oil-yielding roses – Rosa Damascena, Rosa Centifolia & Rosa Alba and examine the subtleties in their odour profiles.

Take part in a perfume-making workshop and create rose accords, lending even more fragrance to this sensory journey.

Visit a rose distillery and see how rose essential oil and rose water are produced. If you are eager to refine your sense of smell, this experience will take you to the next level.

Check out the local Rose Museum and explore the history & culture behind the famous Bulgarian Rose. Sourcing natural ingredients has always been an adventure with educational aspects.

Besides visiting our enchanting gardens, you will also have the chance to visit the Valley of Thracian Kings and see the ancient Thracian Tombs, the magnificent churches, and other places of historical & cultural importance in the area.

To keep the memory of your scented experience alive, we have also prepared a fragrant gift for you - our Rosewater Face Mist.

You will be accommodated in a 5-star hotel close to Kazanlak. Your transfers from Sofia to Kazanlak, the Rose Valley, and back are also covered.

What is covered

What is not covered
Flight tickets, travel insurance, your stay in Sofia, and some meals are not included in the Rose Retreat package.

Deposit

You can secure your spot by paying a non-refundable deposit of EUR 300.

Discount
If you decide to join us with a friend and occupy the same hotel room, both of you will receive a 10% discount on the total amount. Contact us at roseaddict@roseoverdose.com to arrange the details.

Deadline
Claim your spot by the 30th of April 2025.

Refund Policy
Deposits are non-refundable.
If the total amount for the retreat has been transferred and a refund is claimed by the 1st of March 2025 – 100% of the amount excluding the deposit is refundable.
If the total amount for the retreat has been transferred and a refund is claimed by the 1st of April 2025 – 50% of the paid amount, excluding the deposit, is refundable.
After the 1st of April 2025, no refunds will be made.
